Meet the San Jose Team Behind Walt’s Insulation
We’re not a franchise that swaps crews every few months. Walt’s Insulation has been owner-operated in San Jose since 2000, and the people who show up at your door are the same ones who answer your questions, haul the equipment, and crawl into the spaces nobody else wants to. Our San Jose crew handles everything from attic insulation in Willow Glen to crawl space encapsulation in Evergreen, and each of them has been with us for years. They know the houses here, the weather here, and the weird things squirrels do under raised foundations.
Our People
Marcus T., Lead Technician
Marcus has been running insulation jobs with Walt’s Insulation for 12 years, starting as an apprentice and working his way up to lead technician. He’s certified in spray foam application and has logged more blown-in insulation installs in San Jose attics than he can count. His specialty is tricky access situations: low-pitch roofs near downtown, tight crawl spaces in Japantown, second-story additions where the original builder got creative. When Marcus isn’t in an attic, he’s restoring a 1986 Toyota pickup and trying to keep his two basset hounds out of the vegetable garden.
Elena R., Senior Installer
Elena joined us 9 years ago after running her own handywoman business in the East Side for a decade, which means she’s seen pretty much every failed insulation job a homeowner can inherit. She’s certified in Owens Corning and CertainTeed installation systems and is our go-to for attic air sealing and radiant barrier work. Elena is also the person you want on a rodent proofing call: partly because she’s thorough, partly because she’s genuinely unfazed by what rodents leave behind. Weekends you’ll find her hiking around Alum Rock Park or building raised garden beds in her grandmother’s backyard.
Daniel K., Service Coordinator
Daniel is the voice most San Jose customers hear first. He’s been with us for 6 years and handles scheduling, estimates, and the endless puzzle of routing our technicians efficiently across Santa Clara County. He grew up in the Bay Area and can tell you which parts of San Jose get morning fog thick enough to affect attic work, which genuinely helps when we plan a spray foam job. Daniel keeps a notebook of every neighborhood’s quirks, from older Berryessa homes with unusual joist spacing to Alviso houses where moisture control changes everything. Outside work, he coaches youth soccer and is teaching his nephew how to build model trains.
Sam W., Apprentice
Sam is the newest member of the crew, but “newest” at Walt’s Insulation means something specific: he’s been here 2 years and is roughly 300 attic entries into his training. He shadows Marcus and Elena, runs the vacuum on insulation removal jobs, and has become genuinely skilled at diagnosing airflow problems before the hoses come out. Sam grew up in San Jose and graduated from San Jose State with a construction management degree, which means he understands building science on paper and is now learning what it smells like in practice. He usually wins the crew’s Friday lunch-decision vote by default because nobody else cares enough to argue.
One Standard, Every Job
Walt Brenner has a simple rule that took him about a month to write down and 25 years to enforce: a crew’s reputation is only as good as its least careful decision. So every job gets the same treatment regardless of whether it’s a 1,200-square-foot attic in Almaden or a commercial building near downtown. We spec the right material for the job: Owens Corning fiberglass, Rockwool for sound control, Icynene or Demilec spray foam when air sealing matters, GreenFiber when recycled content matters to the customer. We don’t cut corners on prep, cleanup, or the walkthrough at the end. And the Done Right Promise applies to everything: if it’s not done right, we make it right. That isn’t marketing language. It’s the reason Marcus, Elena, Daniel, Sam, and Walt all answer to the same standard every single time. Call (408) 837-7384 to put this crew to work on your San Jose home.
